From Outpost Kabudula:
Here in Kabudula, all things Kudzidalira limodzi are officially in motion! Our supplies arrived just in time for our first workshop, which was held on January 20th at Kabudula Secondary School’s newly constructed library. It was a Sunday afternoon, and the hymns of a local church choir were young children peering through an open window as we learned and created together.
It was a magical afternoon for workshop participants and leaders as we explored, together, the art of abstract expression while also learning about HIV/AIDS through a participatory dialogue lead and moderated by Advemaas Ng’ambi, the HIV/AIDS outreach education and counseling supervisor at our local hospital. It was through the non-threatening atmosphere created, that participants felt free to discuss everything from modes of transmission to myths and stigma as they sifted through magazines to create a film that will see for the first time amongst their entire community on its exhibition night.
And this was only just the beginning.
